The annual mammoth task has arrived for all parents: looking for family things to do during the school summer holidays here in Birmingham! We’ve done the research for you and we’ve compiled a list of the best of what Birmingham has to offer over the school holidays this Summer 2026 to keep the little ones entertained and family-friendly activities.
Snoopy in Birmingham family art trail
Calling all fans of the popular cartoon beagle, Snoopy, you will not want to miss the lovely Snoopy Art Trail that was been installed around Birmingham’s city centre! Running from 9th July until 1st September, fans will happen upon Snoopy lying atop various brightly coloured dog houses, all designed by different local artists! This is of course a free activity and maps are available to download for free here, which will take you across some of Birmingham’s iconic landmarks such as the Great Western Arcade, the Bullring, the Mailbox – and well, the rest are to discover yourself! The trail is a nod to the 75th anniversary of Snoopy first appearing in Peanuts comic strip as Charlie Brown’s pet. This trail will also be raising money for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

A very exciting and award-winning exhibition has stopped here in Birmingham at the NEC that’s already received raving reviews. Bringing Ancient Egypt to life like never before, this unique exhibition offers a 90-minute journey via immersive video projections, VR and metaverse experiences, artefacts, exploring Pharaoh Tutankhamun’s world. Matilda the Musical at Birmingham Hippodrome
Perfect for children aged 6+, the multi award-winning musical, Matilda The Musical, which is inspired by the beloved Roald Dahl classic, is heading back out on tour across the UK. Its Birmingham stop will run until Sunday 2 August 2026. Peppa Pig Space Adventures at the NEC
Have Peppa Pig fans in the family? Well, this is not one to miss for them! Families and their little astronauts are invited to step aboard George’s rocket, journey to the moon and make it back in time for muddy puddles! Visit Cadbury World: home to the world’s most famous chocolate
A sweet treat for the whole family, your tour of the famous Cadbury factory will take you on a historic and magical journey on the Cadbury Chocolate Quest ride, the chance to see the famous drumming gorilla, exciting interactive zones, the 4D Cinema to take an exhilarating cinematic ride on the Crunchie rollercoaster. You can also include an exciting chocolate-themed (of course) afternoon tea into your visit too. Tee off at Treetop Golf
Located in Birmingham’s most famous attraction, the Bullring & Grand Central, the whole family of all ages can tee off in a jungle-themed indoor mini-golf course at Treetop Golf. With two lots of 18-hole courses, you will adventure through mystic woods, dodge ancient spirits, and say hello to the lively locals! After you’ve worked up a hunger, you can head to The Market to dine in either Pizza Cabana, The Thirsty Toucan Bar, and Jungle Buzz Café.
Canon Hill Park
Perfect for family picnics, your daily run, a walk to blow the cobwebs away, or to let your little ones burn off some steam, Canon Hill Park offers a vast outdoor space for all outdoor needs. Start off on the Boating Lake on a swan pedal boat where you can soak up the lovey sights of the park by water. Visit lots of different animals in the Nature Centre including reptiles, birds, monkeys, red pandas, and other furry favourites such as guinea pigs, goats, pigs and sheep. Specifically designed for children ranging the age of toddlers to 10-year-olds, let the kids run wild in the Fun Park which is packed with games, rides, and activities. Other activities available include the Land Train, sports facilities, mini golf at Golden Putter, cafes, and the MAC Centre which includes a theatre, cinema, workshops and more.
Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum
Just a 10-minute walk from the Bullring, the Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum combines science education and hands-on fun for all ages! With 4 floors of exciting interactive exhibits which are suitable for all ages, as well as the outdoor Science Garden and 4k Planetarium, children can explore the child-size world of MiniBrum, which features Birmingham’s famous landmarks and play zones, space exploration, Birmingham’s industrial history, robots, and so much more.
