The 2016 and 2017 Big Family Festivals were a massive hit with parents, guardians and children across the West Midlands. The three day event sees an outdoor cinema, karaoke and workshops. Sooty and Rastamouse will return this year, along with appearances by Sid Sloane, Pip Ahoy, and theatre performances of Angelina Ballerina, to name just a few. Moseley Folk Festival

Moseley Folk Festival showcases unsigned folk acts across the UK, alongside well-established international artist performing in Moseley Park, Birmingham. But it isn’t just the park that gets involved with all the fun. Shops, pubs and eateries across Moseley will also be hosting an array of talent, from dancers to musicians.  The tickets start from £45, and with so many acts to see, it is something you’ll want to experience!

Simplyhealth Great Birmingham Run Junior & Mini/Half Marathon

October 13th/October 14th

Unfortunately, this year’s Birmingham International Marathon was cancelled due to road conditions. However, don’t let it put a damper on your training!  Simplyhealth is bringing back the Great Birmingham Run this October. Children 3-8 years old can participate in the ‘Mini’ distance of 1.5K, whilst children aged 9-16 can take it a bit further in the ‘Junior’ distance of 2.5K. Entry fee for both races is £10. Adults 16 and up shouldn’t miss the opportunity to sign up for the Half Marathon, starting in Birmingham City Centre, very close to Park Regis! Entry fee is £36 and finishers will receive an engraved medal and the satisfaction of crossing yet another challenge off their list.

Every Thursday to Saturday, Lower Trinity Street in Digbeth becomes host to one of the most underrated foodie festivals in the UK. Digbeth Dining Club sees the best street food vendors come together and sell their mouthwatering dishes all in one place. With live music and retro games consoles to keep you entertained whilst you indulge in some eats, it will be one of the days you’ll experience.

What to do this summer in Birmingham

Cannon Hill Park is awesome, and offers many exciting activities for adults and children.
