Wimbledon

La crème de la crème of tennis have been playing at Wimbledon since 1877. As the most traditional tennis tournament in the world, any true fan should attend at least one in their lifetime. The courts are the only grass courts of the Grand Slams whilst the strict dress code for players truly set this tournament apart. Plus, who wouldn’t want to get a glimpse of the Royal Box at the Centre Court?

Tickets

Whilst getting tickets to Wimbledon, especially for the Centre Court, is harder each year, it’s not impossible. The Queue allows for spectators to purchase premium tickets on the day of play. Queuing up overnight for tickets has become a favourite Wimbledon tradition for many fans. Imagine setting up a tent on a field packed with tennis fans from all over the world. The environment is electric and contagious!

Food and Drinks

A favorite tradition amongst Wimbledon fans is pairing fresh strawberries and cream, and a glass-or two, or three-of Pimm’s. Wimbledon’s caterers are happy to honour that tradition, so there are various places where you can indulge in this lush snack. If you’d rather have an actual meal, tuck into gourmet sandwiches and salads.

Staying Busy

If you want to kill some time between matches, pay a visit to the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum. Soak up the history of this tournament, take photos of previous trophies and explore the timeline of Wimbledon’s major events. Tickets are £15 for children and £25 for adults but, due to high demand, must be reserved in advance.

If you can’t make it to Wimbledon, remember that the Birmingham Classic is just a short drive from Park Regis Birmingham. Enjoy the Happy Hour and the Cocktail of the Month at 1565 Restaurant, Bar and Terrace.
