What is Afternoon Tea?

Afternoon Tea, also referred to as High Tea is a popular food tradition steeped in British history, consisting in an afternoon treat traditionally involving tea and/or alcoholic drinks, miniature sandwiches, cakes, scones and other finger food.

Said to have been championed by a friend of Queen Victoria’s – Anne Marie Russell. She wanted to see off hunger pains in the often long break between an early lunch and a late supper, and some 150 years later, the idea is still enjoyed.

Why not add on a little extra…

Hendrick’s gin is an emblematic and renown gin, using 12 Botanicals in recipe, which took 11 years to perfect. Two antique stills are used to brew it, one from 1860 one from 1918, after which Bulgarian Rose Buds and Cucumber botanicals are also added once the two spirits are combined to become the star flavours.

Add the Hendricks Teapot Cocktail to your afternoon tea, the cocktail is chilled served with fresh cucumber, elderflower syrup, jasmine tea and a good helping of Hendrick’s gin for just £5.00 per person.
